On February 12, eight retired teachers from Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Organization in Ruidoso traveled to The Ranches to bring Valentine’s gifts for the residents and staff. The previous year, they brought Christmas gifts. They enjoyed meeting the residents and discussed returning this past Christmas, but the group talked about how much the residents are acknowledged at Christmas and decided that coming for a different holiday might even be better.
The ladies had lunch with the residents and then presented each one with a gift card and a small Valentine’s gift. As a pleasant surprise, they also shared gifts with the staff.
The memories built during events like this are ones the young people will take with them when they leave The Ranches. It is a wonderful reminder that there are people who want to help and provide support for those who are learning new skills and building new futures.
