Another year and another National Parks Trip is in the books. This year, we took the kids to Rocky Mountains National Park to see the beautiful scenery and to have some fun.
For many of the kids, these trips are a whole new experience and seeing them have fun in a new setting is a treat for all of our staff that get the opportunity to go along. For me, these trips are a great reminder of how important it is to make lasting memories for young people.
We were able to find a large cabin with a huge backyard that could accommodate our group and our adventures took us to many places within the scenic Rocky Mountain. Hiking, white water rafting and an alpine slide were the highlights this year and no one could accuse us of not having a great time. In the evenings, we returned to the cabin and had meals together before heading out to the back yard for volleyball, horseshoes and time to play as kids. We managed to sneak in a little clothes shopping and a nice dinner at a local pizza place as well.
As I look back on the trip, I realize that many of us get so busy with our lives that we forget how important it is to just enjoy the little things. Fresh air, spending time with loved ones and watching young people be kids are the highlights of the trip for me. I look forward to next year’s trip so that a new batch of kids can make a new batch of lasting memories.
Thank you to the Peter’s Foundation for funding this annual event.
