Dear Friends,

As the lights begin to twinkle across New Mexico and the scent of pine fills the air, I find myself once again pausing to reflect on the year that has passed and to give thanks. At The Ranches, the Christmas season always invites us to slow down and remember what truly matters: the people who make this mission possible, the young lives that are being renewed each day, and the quiet, steadfast hope that reminds us of God’s constant presence in our work.

This past year has been one of both challenge and triumph. Through it all, we have seen God’s hand at work in the lives of the young men and women entrusted to our care. We have watched them rediscover the pieces of themselves that hardship had buried: their confidence, their laughter, their belief in the goodness of others. Every step forward, no matter how small, is a reminder that healing takes time, but through faith and patience, it is always possible. When a child begins to see their own value again, you can almost see God’s light shining through their eyes. That light, that spark of hope, is why we do what we do.

Christmas at The Ranches is a special kind of celebration. It is not defined by gifts or glitter, but by the joy of belonging, of being seen, known, and loved, just as Christ sees, knows, and loves each of us. Around the dinner table, through shared stories and quiet moments, we see the true meaning of the season come alive. And as we gather together, we also think of you, the extended support system who believes in our mission and continues to help rekindle hope in children who once felt forgotten.

As we look toward the new year, we carry that hope forward. We know there is still work to be done, hearts to mend, skills to teach, and confidence to rebuild. But we step into the coming year with gratitude for the foundation God has helped us build together and with faith that He will continue to guide us in the work ahead.

To everyone who has prayed for, encouraged, or supported The Ranches this year: thank you. Your faith in these kids, and in the power of second chances, makes all the difference. May this Christmas fill your home with peace, and may your heart be filled with the same hope you have helped rekindle here.

From all of us at The Ranches, Merry Christmas. May the new year bring renewed strength, deep joy, and the blessing of knowing that through your compassion, you have been part of God’s work of changing lives.

Sincerely,

Mikela Kull – President
